Children were made to grow up in families. Tragically, however, over 800,000 Indonesian children grow up separated from their families and communities.
We are striving for change.
Who we are
We're a small nonprofit with a deep love for Indonesia and its people. Across the country, many families face challenges that can lead to separation. While resources exist to care for children after separation occurs, fewer efforts focus on helping families stay together and/or reunify.
We partner with faith-based institutions, child care organizations, community leaders, and other stakeholders to strengthen support for children and families. Rather than bringing outside solutions, we come alongside those who know their communities best—equipping, connecting, and encouraging local leaders as they serve children and families.
Together, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to grow up in a safe, loving family.
Why Indonesia?
Indonesia is home to one of the largest populations of children living in residential care worldwide. And the numbers continue to increase because for too long residential care has been widely regarded as the first and only solution to varied and complex problems within families and communities.
According to recently published statistics by Save the Children Indonesia, from 2020 to 2026 the amount of residential care institutions has nearly doubled and the number of children living in them has increased from 102,482 to 809,415. Meanwhile, the growth in alternative care and family strengthening solutions that statistically provide better outcomes for children and families such as kinship care, foster care, boarding schools, community development, etc. has grown at a far slower pace.
Indonesia already has the beautifully strong sense of family and community necessary to see this paradigm shift, but they simply lack the proper support and tools to see it done.
How We Work
We work alongside Indonesian leaders and organizations, helping them access the knowledge, resources, relationships, and support needed to strengthen families and improve care for children.
Information
Good decisions begin with good information. That’s why we share what we have learned through research, personal experience, and the work of others.
Our goal is not simply to share information, but to help people understand and put it into practice in ways that strengthen families and improve outcomes for children.
Resources
Lasting change begins with learning. Our resources are designed to equip faith-based institutions, caregivers, organizations, students, and community leaders with practical tools, research, and studies in child welfare.
